    Lauzon vs Etim

    Posted in: Blog

I was supposed to fight Terry Etim once upon a time… in Boston at UFC 118. I trained really hard because I knew it was going to be a tough fight… but the fight didn’t happen. Terry pulled out of the fight with a broken rib and I ended up fighting Gabe Ruediger instead. The stars have aligned though and it looks the fight will happen after all.

Terry Etim is a lanky lightweight over 6 feet tall with a record of 15-4 (4-2 in the UFC) from Liverpool, England. He has a lot of wins by submission and generally uses his “long ass arms” to choke people into submission. While I can’t grow my arms or legs any longer to help deal with him, I will be training like a mad man to try and negate his length and bring the fight to him.

For both of us, this is kind of like deja vu because we have already trained for one another. I liked the fight the first time around, but I really like the fight this time around as I have grown tremendously as an athlete and fighter.

Living Legends is a HUGE game of Paintball that will be taking place at CPX Sports in Chicago May 18th to the 20th. I will be flying out to play for a few days alongside my friends Woody and FPSRussia.

I played a lot of paintball in high school, but never something like this. This is going to be the largest and most insane game of paintball ever. We are talking hundreds of people on a massive field all at once battling it out. It’s going to be INSANE. This isn’t going to be like any paintball you have ever played before.

You can find more information here if you would like to come and play… it’s going to be an awesome time.

    Avengers Week

    Posted in: Blog

In celebration of the Avengers movie coming out this week, I skinned my blog Avengers style. It didn’t take a ton of work, but I had fun doing it and it shows support of the movie this week. I will switch it back next week, but behold its glory for now.

I am going to leave a screenshot below so it can be seen after I change it back.

When we traveled to Japan last month for my fight with Anthony Pettis (which did not go so well), we did a series of video blogs leading up to the fight and then everything that happened after. Well, we may have been slightly influenced by Tyler Durden in the Fight Club movie, and cut a few still shots into the footage. We did it hoping someone would pick up on it, but no one caught onto it! The first person to figure out what the image is will win some GammaLabs PTF. You can post a comment below, tweet to me, or leave me a comment on facebook!
    Few hints:
    1) The image you are looking for is is one of these videos.
    2) The image is more than 1 frame, but comes and goes very quickly.
    3) The image is something from my childhood (and not pornographic like in fight club)

    Good luck!

My only regret about working with Kyle is that I didn’t find him sooner! As a professional athlete
it’s important that I perform to the best of my ability. While most people that see me lifting heavier
weights, jumping higher, increasing flexiblity and developing better balance think it is all about
fighting… they would be wrong. Secretly, I am on a mission to reach the pinnacle of preparation
    for the impending Zombie Apocalypse!

In a post apocalyptic world, I want to be like Genghis Khan laying waste to the zombie horde that
will inevitably come forth. Fortunately, my elite fighter friends and I will be ready to deal with
any physical task set before us because of our training under Kyle. Under his watchful eye,
I have learned not only how to get stronger but also why we do specific things. I’m not the best at
following blindly but when I understand the importance of why we do certain things, I am that much
    more motivated.

Kyle has been an invaluable member of my coaching staff for over two years now and I have
consistently seen considerable gains as time goes by. He always has alternative options for
exercises that would have been otherwise difficult to do with sparring related injuries that all
fighter’s have to deal with. Regardless of your limitations, Kyle can get you the results you are
looking for. I have already far exceeded what I thought was my potential and I look forward to
seeing what he has in store for me.

There is no doubt Kyle has turned me into a better fighter, a much better athlete and has prepared
me for the inevitable outbreak of the undead. I will be prepared. Will you?

You can find Kyle here on facebook, and sometime soon at RevolvePerformance.com

The new season of the Ultimate Fighter starts tomorrow, Friday March 9th at 9PM EST. The most talked about change for this season is that the fights will be live! When I was on the show we taped from the middle of January until late February and then the show aired a few months later. This season, the fights are going to be live so nothing can be spoiled and we will see the fights as they happen.

The second most interesting things about this season is Joe Proctor. It was about 2 years ago when I flew to North Carolina with Joe, for his first TUF tryouts, when we thought he was going to get his shot. It didn’t happen then, but it happened the second time around when we flew to Vegas. We have known for years now that Joe was going to make it into the UFC and we are all thrilled to seem him get there now.

Proctor has been one of the most helpful guys in my gym for years and has always been looking to get in and do some training with whoever has come through our doors. Joe Proctor has been training with me for like 6 years now and is one of the primary training partners for me, my brother and every other high level guy at my gym. He has pretty much cleared out the 155 division here in New England and has been chomping at the bit to get to the next level. I will be cheering on Joe Proctor and you should be too!

I’m super excited for Friday and you should be too. Remember the name Joe Proctor.

Follow Joe Proctor on twitter and facebook for after the show! We just got his website up and running too!
