4. Joe Lauzon over Jens Pulver, UFC 63, Sept. 23, 2006 — Los Angeles
“Lil Evil” was back after four year away! Pulver, one of the original little men to win a title in the UFC, was welcomed home as the promotion was reintroducing its new 155-pound weight division. Pulver, a favorite to take the title, was given an “easy” fight against an unknown 22-year-old, nerdy looking kid from the Boston area. Lauzon, now know for his submission game drilled Pulver with left hook that spelled the beginning of the end. Lauzon delivered as a minus-650 dog in just 47 seconds. -

(Nov. 18, 2009) – A little more than eight months since undergoing knee surgery, UFC lightweight prospect Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (18-4, 5 KOs, 13 submissions) is fully recovered and anxious to get back into The Octagon.Lauzon, star of The Ultimate Fighter 5 television reality show, had ACL surgery and his meniscus repaired on his right knee March 6. In Good Hands – Boston Herald Blog 4

Since I started this sport, I have always been fortunate to have great trainers. I have a great boxing trainer in Steve Maze and a great strength trainer in Steve Baccari. BJ, Rudy, Tony and Reagan were all incredible trainers on the Ultimate Fighter and while I was in Hawaii. The one trainer that has been there since Day 1, though, is Joe Pomfret.

Hilo, Hawaii. Not exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think of grueling training for mixed martial arts fights, or at least not the one that fits the stereotype of the gritty and grimy urban landscape which houses gyms that produce mean and nasty prizefighters.
