Update on my training with BJ Penn
by Joe Lauzon on Feb.09, 2010, under Blog
It has been almost 2 years since I was out here, but it’s like I never left. Almost everything is the exact same around the gym and around town. Some things have changed, but it’s really just more of the same. I was telling Shane being in Hilo is like being caught in a time warp or something. It’s almost like Hilo is still in the 80’s! Just feels very old from the small diners to the old pickup trucks driving around. It really is awesome. (continue reading…)
UFC.com: Solving for Variables
by Joe Lauzon on Dec.30, 2009, under Press
Believe it or not, the transition from computer wiz to MMA fighter isn’t that much of a stretch. Listen to Joe Lauzon elaborate on his former role, and he may as well be talking about the latter.
“When I was younger, I used to ruin my computers just to see how they worked,” he says. “That way I could learn how to put them back together again. There’s something satisfying about figuring things out or trying to come up with solutions. It’s why I also liked math when I was growing up. I’ve just always loved the challenge of a problem.”

You Don’t Measure Pain Like a Normal Person

I had my 5 month followup today with Dr. Pavlovich today. I was originally supposed to see him on Wednesday but ended up switching it to today. I had forgotten all about it until about 3am last night. I was in the middle of killing Nazi Zombies playing Call of Duty on Xbox and my phone started beeping at me about my 8:30am appointment! Ughhhh. Needless to say, 7:30 came way too fast. (continue reading…)
Great Article: Answers a lot of Questions about my knee and my future

UFC lightweight title contender and Bridgewater native Joe Lauzon does not rattle easily.
Just 11 days after an electrifying second-round armbar submission victory over Jeremy Stephens to headline SpikeTv’s Fight Night 17 on Feb. 7, Lauzon’s (18-4, 5 KOs, 13 subs) possible title hopes were put on hold when he suffered a torn ACL that forced him to undergo surgery. (continue reading…)

It has been a while since I have put out an update because I have been trying to stay as busy as possible. I have had a healthy dose of X-Box and teaching at my gym to keep me occupied, and time has just been slipping away. (continue reading…)
Up and at em’
by Joe Lauzon on Mar.29, 2009, under Blog
I was basically stuck in my room for the last month and a half. I couldn’t even get around the house for a while and I definitely couldn’t go outside the house without help. Just walking was pretty slow and difficult and driving was completely out of the question.
Walking without the brace
by Joe Lauzon on Mar.25, 2009, under Blog
I have still been walking with the brace when I leave the house but I can walk without it around the house. I was at rehab and they said it was okay but I was super nervous about it. I had visions of my knee exploding or something! It was fine though.
2 Weeks After Surgery
by Joe Lauzon on Mar.20, 2009, under Blog
Well, it’s been 2 weeks since I had ACL Surgery and had my meniscus repaired. I’ve done two rehab sessions this week and have my third one later today. I’m at the point now where I can walk with my brace locked out and unable to bend, but its still pretty shaky. I have been trying to walk a little more each day but have mainly been hopping around and using crutches still. I am really trying not to over do it.
My pain is your enjoyment

This is 6 days after I had ACL surgery. My knee was a little swollen so the doctor thought it would be best to drain off some of the fluid (blood) to make me more comfortable. It felt better afterwards, but it was excruciating while it was being drained.
