As a fighter that has spent over 3 months training for a fight, I received the worst email possible yesterday. “Terry Etim is out with an injury. Looking for a replacement”. Wonderful. I spent 3 months training for a 6’1″ kickboxer with slick BJJ. I knew the replacement would never be even close to that. We had done a LOT of very specific training for Terry, which was all for nothing. I hope Terry has a speedy recovery and maybe we can do it down the line.

UFC Fan Expo Video
Posted in: Blog, Videos
Here is some video I shot at the UFC Fan Expo. The SpikeTV booth was ridiculous and was two stories tall, so we waited around upstairs to do the signing. Place was nuts!

UFC lightweight title contender and Bridgewater native Joe Lauzon does not rattle easily.
Just 11 days after an electrifying second-round armbar submission victory over Jeremy Stephens to headline SpikeTv’s Fight Night 17 on Feb. 7, Lauzon’s (18-4, 5 KOs, 13 subs) possible title hopes were put on hold when he suffered a torn ACL that forced him to undergo surgery. Read More | Comments

Sitting at the airport, going to UFC100
Posted in: Blog
I always get to the airport way early so I don’t miss my flight…. so here I am. My plane is supposed to leave in about an hour, so it shouldn’t be too bad. I am going to Vegas for UFC100 and the UFC Fan Expo. It should be a great time weekend all the way around. I talked with Matt Arroyo earlier this week so I will hopefully meet up with him and get to do some light training. Going to meet up with “Grandpa” Tony Blauer at some point, most likely for some double doubles because we are both fat kids at heart. I talked to Noah Thomas last night too and he is apparently out there for a few days too. Read More | Comments

My next fight…
Posted in: Blog
I am fighting Hermes Franca on Saturday February 7th in Tampa, Florida at the USF Sun Dome. I believe it is going to be an Ultimate Fight Night card on Spike TV.

Hermes is a VERY dangerous opponent and has:
- Fought Sean Sherk for the UFC Lightweght Title losing a 5 round decision
- A record of 9-4 in the UFC/WEC, 20-7 as a Pro… all his losses coming by Decision
- Coming off a win over Marcus Aurelio and has wins over TUF5 Winner Nate Diaz, WEC Champ Jamie Varner, IFL Champ Ryan Schultz, TUF5 fighter and Former WEC Champ Gabe Ruediger and Spencer Fisher.
Hermes is VERY heavy handed to complement his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and is always dangerous. I was given a few different fight options, but thought the fight with Hermes would be the most challenging and most exciting.

Boston Turf War: Lauzon vs Florian
Posted in: Blog, Press
This is an article that was in today’s Boston Herald…

Local UFC fans will be faced with a difficult decision: Root for the Dover guy or the East Bridgewater guy … Joe Lauzon or Kenny Florian. Rumors have been circulating on the Internet for weeks that the top two fighters from Massachusetts will meet, and both confirmed last week that the fight will be the main event at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2, at a site to be determined. The fight will air on Spike TV before the season premier of
